Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (cooled) Prevents melting the ice too quickly.
  • 1 large banana frozen banana About 150 g.
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup To adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup ice cubes About 120 g.
  • 1 pinch cinnamon Optional topping.
  • whipped cream Optional topping.

Equipment

  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 2 Tall glasses

Method

  1. Brew your coffee in advance and let it cool. This prevents melting the ice too quickly and thinning your smoothie.
  2. In the blender, add the cooled coffee, frozen banana, milk, honey or maple syrup, cocoa powder, and ice cubes.
  3. Blend on high speed until the mixture is creamy and smooth, scraping down the sides if necessary.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired by adding a bit more honey or maple syrup.
  5. Pour into two tall glasses. Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon or top with whipped cream if desired.
  6. Serve immediately while cold and frothy.

Notes

For a thicker smoothie, add more frozen banana or substitute ½ cup of the milk for plain yogurt.
For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and maple syrup.
You can add a scoop of your favorite protein powder if desired.
Adjust the strength of coffee to your taste preference.
